Our Commitment
Watoto Play actively supports two local Yorkshire charities – The Otley Community Larder and The Principle Trust Charity – alongside our own community-led initiatives.
Through partnership, shared learning, co-creating and contribution-based giving, we aim to strengthen local support networks whilst growing emotionally healthy, connected communities. You can learn more each charity below:
Who We Support
Sharing surplus, supporting each other
The Otley Community Larder is an Otley 2030 project that rescues surplus food from supermarkets, wholesalers, and local producers – good food that would otherwise go to waste – and makes it available to everyone, on a pay-as-you-feel basis. We’re not a food bank. There are no referrals, no criteria – just an open invitation to enjoy food, reduce waste, and support each other with dignity. Learn More >
Respite support for children and families across Yorkshire
Based in Skipton, North Yorkshire, we exist to brighten the lives of underprivileged, disadvantaged, and disabled children across Yorkshire by providing free holidays and respite breaks.
Whether families are coping with life-limiting illnesses, disabilities, additional needs, mental health challenges, or overcrowded housing, our aim is the same: to offer a safe, welcoming escape where they can reconnect, recharge, and make lasting memories together. Learn more >
Our Initiatives
World Let’s Stop Shouting Day – Every November
This is is rooted in raising awareness of how shouting impacts relationships, and both our physical and mental health – affecting not only those who are shouted at, but also those who feel driven to shout.
We champion steady, respectful communication that supports everyone, including parents, teachers, therapists, carers, neurodivergent individuals, families, and workplaces.
We also advocate for passionate, meaningful conversations that still feel emotionally safe – so difficult topics can be explored without shutdown, resentment, or escalation.
Through free resources, we promote non-violent, assertive communication, including practical de-escalation tools for handling conflict without shouting. [ Learn more ]
